Compass South Land Sales chose me to produce and direct this film featuring one of their Premier Country Estates. Four Tips for Social Media Marketing

With the increasing results from Social Media, it is not surprising that businesses find it to be one of the most useful tools in their marketing strategies.

Yet, there are still some businesses that don’t put forth effort to perfect their social media use.  They are present online but not reaping the numerous benefits that social media could provide their business.

Is your business one of them?

If so, here’s how to clarify your next moves:

1.  Define your goals. In any aspect of a business, goals are most important. You need to set your goals in order to measure your room for improvement. Before doing any campaign or promotion, set a realistic goal. For example, you’re doing business in the local area and you want to use social media marketing to create a website or maybe a blog for your business. Your main goal is to increase web traffic to increase popularity.

2.  Acknowledge your audience. Gaining lots of audience can also make your business a success. But, you must gain their trust first. To do so, you must make them feel how valuable and important they are.

3.  Engage with your customers. This is all about interacting with your audience. So how do you engage with your customers?  What is your level of interaction with them?  Speaking directly to your customers, and speaking to them in a social medium is a big difference. You could start with asking them about their opinions. Call your top ten clients so you will know their insights and feedback.  These are methods of making them feel their voice matters.  Second, provide a way for your customers to voice concerns; on-line forums are great.  Lastly, always respond to them. Every time you ask about their opinions or suggestions, make sure that you respond. It makes them feel that you value them and realize that their opinions are important to you. Because of this, they will engage you more. Lastly, campaign and engagement are different. When you say campaign, it is clearly having a pack of people doing something for a specific purpose. Engagement of your clients is all about a commitment that needs to be sustained.

4.  Don’t focus on one social media channel.  What comes into your mind if you hear the word “social media”?  Is it Twitter? Perhaps Facebook?  Those are just examples of social networking sites that people are using to communicate with each other.   So, always make sure that they know how to get in touch with you on different platforms and various channels.  Remember that your audience isn’t using just one platform, so tap them all by being in the avenues they’re active in.

Goodbye Canon, Hello Panasonic Lumix GH4

For the last year, I have been using the Canon 5D3 for stills and video production.  Recently I purchased the Panasonic Lumix GH4 for its internal 4K video mode.  Wow, I have been impressed with the resolution.  Coming from the 5D3, using the GH4 has been an amazing step-up in video quality.   After a few weeks of testing the new camera, it was clear that I would never again use the Canon for video.  The only question was whether I would be able to use the GH4 for my photography projects.  The answer is yes!  The picture above was taken with the GH4 and the Lumix 7-14mm Lens.

To summarize the GH4 in a single sentence, I would say it is a camera that is fully competitive in terms of features, functionality, and image quality with anything currently on the market.  If a 16MP image size is adequate for your shooting, then you’ll likely find the GH4 a very practical and enjoyable stills camera.

When it comes to video, the GH4 is in a class of its own. There is nothing currently on the market, or even announced from any manufacturer, that can trump the GH4 when it comes to internal 4K video in a DSLR form factor.  So for today, The GH4 is a welcome addition to the Lowcountry Pictures production kit.

Restoration – A BMW R100/7 Story

A short film featuring a beautiful 1977 BMW R100/7 motorcycle that was restored by Steven Hiers. We have been like brothers since teenagers, and created lots of art and mayhem through the years. Here is more of the former. Produced in the beautiful Lowcountry of South Carolina. Many will recognize the historic “Sheldon Church.” Enjoy!

Tucked Away Plantation

The challenge: to market a beautiful property for sale in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Compass South Land Sales wanted to highlight the character and emotion of “Tucked Away Plantation.” The footage is cinematic and the soundtrack is epic! Someone will watch this film and “have to have” this beautiful place.

An edgy behind-the-scenes/promo film for photographer Holger Obenaus featuring the “Lost Highway” 2013 Fall Fashion Collection.  Still cameras were Phase ONE and Linhof.  Motion cameras were Canon 5DmkIII and Sony FS700.  Edited in Premiere Pro CC with motion graphics and compositing in After FX CC. Grading was done in Colorista II.
